"There is a Mountain" by Donovan

Between the week behind and its residue and the week ahead with its various promises (and threats) it was tricky to cajole this particular Theme Song from the ether.

I've enjoyed this song since a long-ago ex-boyfriend played it for me.  We giggled over it together, and without giving it much more thought, it always just seemed silly and absurd to me.  When I saw Donovan live at the NY Historical Society many years ago (Yup. I did that!), he played this song and talked about how the central metaphor of the Mountain represents the obstacles we face in life.  So first there's an obstacle, then we overcome it but then . . . there's another one!  So, not just silly and absurd after all.

Oh, Juanita! I call your name . . . !
